Reply:Actually windows is all of the above. But it is best a Graphical User Interface. It interprets data from hardware devices, and decodes what the software wants to do with it, then compiles to create the final product. It also acts as a DBMS, but It's most important function is to be a GUI. No one would buy windows if they could make a computer do whatever they wanted to do but typing in code, and since most of us cannot, we rely on windows to do that for us...


Remember DOS. That is an Operating System, and was very difficult for the novice to perform functions. By creating an interface, like windows, and putting those instructions in recognizable icons, people can perform complex dos instructions without knowing anything about the OS.
