Working in kernel programing in C or working in Java (GUI side) , which one to choose as a fresher?

depends on your skill and expertise level. and what do you exactly like doing....

like playing with system calls that disregard any thing and do absolutly what you tell them to... then choose C. that requires complex understanding of how system works. its like.. knowing the internals of a Car engine.

JAVA is hot right now... every one claims to knoe JAVA, but very few are actually good at it. you need to find one domain within JAVA which you like and then get into it. its like.. making different components of a car work together.

choose where you want to go....

C,C,C,C,C,C,C,C,CC.........................

That's what i like and i what i would suggest to you.

If you are a fresher for a job then i cant say anything (coz i am still a student)but i do love Linux and would suggest to you that you should carry on kernel programming to become a Linux domain specialist or something like that.It would be better off than wasting time memorizing the newest features given to you by the newest header files(or something on the lines of that ).C == software developer :: Java == Software producer of network applications.
Reply:programing in C for long term prospects
